midnight combined run – two

post-run mel

Yes, You heard right folks, I did another midnight combined run! I thought I would never do it again but my DH put the idea in my head yesterday and I ‘ran’ with it.

It was the coldest night of the year so far at a cool 12 °C. I loved it. It was amazing and perfect for running. I still ran up a sweat but the 12 °C really helped with my recovery so I could faster. There was not a cloud in the sky and at one point I just had to stop for a second to enjoy the stars and the fact that there was not a single car on the road.

When you run on a main road it’s rare for there to be no cars but when you run from 11:30 pm to 12:30 am on a Sunday night to a Monday morning there are times when there is not a car in sight. It’s amazing and I love it! It’s so peaceful and when I stopped to admire the stars and the fact that there are no cars, I took a moment to thank God for the chance to enjoy such a beautiful night.

As far as my running was concerned I think I did pretty good. It was a 6 km run but split up for the two days it was 3 km each which makes it short runs for Sunday and Monday. My pace was excellent and I put it down to the cool temperature. I was a lot faster for the first 3 km but held a respectable pace for the way home which was good because I really pushed it at the beginning.

Overall, it was a good run and I hope that by having this ‘rest’ day I will be ready for some higher kilometre runs.

Happy running – Melissa

  1. Yay. Good on you. 😀
Dad and Michael moved my treadmill into my living room. It’s a bit squishy but it’ll do.
So. Hopefully I too, will be back on my feet soon. ^^
